The Building Communities and Cross-Cultural Conflict Transformation workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to expand their definitions to encompass other dimensions such as cultural customs/traditions, linguistics, socio-economics, urban/suburban/rural. From awareness of the broad dimensions of diversity, the session will create opportunities for participants to explore more about themselves and others, particularly in terms of issues such as assumptions and stereotypes, how we perceive others and how we are perceived by others. Community-based organizations will become aware of the facets of diversity beyond race, gender, and ethnicity in engaging disparately affected groups.
